Come and see Broadway through the eyes of the biggest disco band in Brazil. With this motto, Rod Hanna began the trajectory of the show Rod Hanna On Broadway, which reaches its fifth year of exhibition, always with new features and the ability to captivate audiences wherever it goes.< br />
Rod Hanna On Broadway reproduces Times Square as a backdrop, with LED panels and New York icons, such as the yellow taxi, Statue of Liberty, subway, Play Bill and Big Apple. It also pays homage to Carmen Miranda, which explains the Brazilian's passion for musicals. Carmen made Brazil the biggest star on Broadway in the late 1930s, making musicals more fun and spontaneous.
The impression is that Rod Hanna is playing in the middle of Times Square and the characters come out of the theaters to sing and dance with them. An irresistible and engaging invitation.
Among the songs that portray the disco era, some from the musicals Priscilla (MacArthur Park, I Will Survive and Finally), Mamma Mia (Gimme Gimme, Mamma Mia and Dancing Queen), Fame (Fame), Flash Dance (What a Feeling), Saturday Night Fever (Night Fever, More Than a Woman and You Should be Dancing), Carmem Miranda (Aquarela do Brasil).
The show also features songs from other famous musicals that were very successful on Broadway and that did not address disco music in their repertoire, such as The Lion King, The Phantom of the Opera and Grease, performed in a personalized way by Rod Hanna.
Learn more about Rod Hanna.
Rod Hanna was born in Ribeirão Preto/SP and today crosses the country's borders. There are more than 20 years on the road, six CDs, 3 DVDs, music videos and several shows across the country. His first CD, Rod Hanna, was produced by Kiko Zambianchi and featured nine original tracks and a reinterpretation of You've Got a Friend, by Carole King, which paved the way for Xuxa Hits, the main space for dance artists at the time.
In 1996, they recorded their second CD, Vinil, in which they clearly took on the influence of the 70s. They recorded their first music video, directed by Geraldo Santos and performed well on MTV.
In 1999, they released the CD and music video Disco, with period costumes, whose novelty and good reception had an impact on a five-minute piece with Zeca Camargo in Fantástico. Since then, the disco revival fever has filled the band's schedule. Currently, Rod Hanna is preparing to record a new CD of unreleased songs, in which he will use the 1970s musical style that has made him famous in his 20 years of artistic career.
