A Symphonic Tribute to the Masters of Tango: Piazolla, Mariano Mores, and Gardel
Brazil will host the 2019 edition of the show A NIGHT IN BUENOS AIRES, which has been touring the world for over 40 years with absolute success. The performances will take place on April 12 at Tom Brasil in São Paulo and April 13 at Vivo Rio, Rio de Janeiro.
This show, which brings together the best of Argentine music and dance, is musically directed by Maestro CARLOS BUONO (an extraordinary soloist, featured with the world's most important symphony orchestras, currently touring as a special guest in André Rieu's shows, and winner of the SADAIC / Golden Bandoneon Awards) and his Symphonic Tango, formed by virtuosic and magnificent maestros.
The show will also feature a special performance by the most awarded tango singer of today, ALBERTO BIANCO (the leading interpreter of Mariano Mores), as well as World Champion Tango Dancers and the maestros of the VILLA LOBOS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA.
Maestro Carlos Buono
Musical director, bandoneonist, composer, and arranger, Maestro Carlos Buono (SADAIC / Golden Bandoneon Award) is currently the most authentic and magnificent interpreter of Piazzolla. He has performed as a soloist with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra and the Milan, Amsterdam, and Hamburg Opera Symphony Orchestras.
Known as The King of Tango in Europe, the maestro is currently on tour with Dutch violinist André Rieu.
Carlos Buono was born in Buenos Aires in 1942. He began his musical studies with Maestro Elifio Rosaenz, continuing with Tití Rossi. He performed with great musicians before forming his own group and performing in the world's major capitals. Winner of the Homero Manzi Award at the Baradero Festival (Argentina), he played in the orchestral groups of Alfredo Gobbi, Osvaldo Tarantino, Mariano Mores, Horacio Salgán, José Colangelo, Osvaldo Berlinghieri, and Atilio Stampone. He was the musical director of the "Michelangelo" show house, and for artists Raul Lavie and Libertad Lamarque, and was also the solo bandoneonist for Julio Bocca’s show in New York.
He has accompanied Adriana Varela, Eladia Blazquez, Maria Graña, and Lito Nebbia, among others.
Throughout his career, the maestro has toured extensively in Japan, the U.S., Russia, Europe, Central America, South America, and Canada. In 2003, he toured the Scandinavian countries, including Sweden and Denmark, where critics hailed him as one of the world's ten best instrumentalists. In 2004, he performed as a soloist in Italy at the invitation of the National Opera Theater of Rome, conducted by Maestro Luis Bacalov.
He also performed in Germany as a soloist with the Rund-Funk – Orchester of WDR (Radio TE Germany). He was the musical director of Piazzolla Tango in Buenos Aires and was honored for his career with a medal and diploma from SADAIC (Society of Authors and Composers of Argentina).
ALBERTO BIANCO
The greatest interpreter of ASTOR PIAZZOLLA, celebrates this year, 41 years of his career. He joined the orchestra of Maestro Mariano Mores in 1995, performing in theaters across Europe, Israel, the United States, and Mexico.
Afterward, he recorded his first solo album and continued to find success with performances in countries such as Japan (with shows in 30 cities). In 2018, he launched his new discographic project *Viejas Alegrias* together with Maestro Tony Gallo and continues with his radio show Gala Tango.
WORLD CHAMPION TANGO DANCERS
The dancers IVAN ROMERO and SILVANA NUÑEZ, world champion tango dancers, who surpassed artists from Argentina, Paraguay, Colombia, Russia, Chile, and Italy at the Buenos Aires World Tango Festival.
VILLA LOBOS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Conducted by Maestro Adriano Machado, they recently accompanied the extraordinary soprano Sarah Brightman, and their maestros will participate in this tribute to Piazzolla and Gardel with unique arrangements by Carlos Buono.
