A TASTE OF HONEY – JANICE-MARIE JOHNSON

Janice-Marie Johnson embodies longevity. As the leader and co-founder of "A Taste Of Honey," she continues to top the charts with "Boogie Oogie Oogie," winner of the coveted Grammy Award for "Best New Artist."

Janice-Marie's music captivates audiences of all generations. From her timeless melodies to the infectious rhythms of her bass, her stellar musicality remains the soul of her success, with lively performances in clubs, casinos, stadiums, and theaters worldwide.

A Taste Of Honey burst onto the music scene with their debut album, *A Taste Of Honey* (1978), released by Capitol Records. Produced by R&B and jazz maestros Larry Mizell and Fonce Mizell, the album delivered equal doses of love songs ("Sky High") and funk ("Distant"). It went platinum and reached No. 2 on the R&B albums chart, as well as breaking into the Top 10 of the Billboard 200.

Written by Janice-Marie, "Boogie Oogie Oogie" launched the album, becoming a dancefloor anthem. The song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, R&B singles chart, and disco charts, earning gold and platinum certifications.

As the songwriter of "Boogie Oogie Oogie," Janice-Marie received a Grammy nomination for "Best R&B Song," while the track led to the group's nomination for "Best Vocal Performance by a Group or Duo." A Taste Of Honey performed "Boogie Oogie Oogie" at the Grammy Awards, taking home the "Best New Artist" prize.

The follow-up album, *Another Taste* (1979), didn't disappoint. Produced again by the Mizell brothers, it further refined the group's unique blend of R&B, pop, jazz, and dance music, delivering hits like "I Love You" and "Your Love."

The album's lead single, "Do It Good," became a Top 20 R&B hit, packing dance floors in the hottest nightclubs.

In the early 1980s, A Taste Of Honey teamed up with producer George Duke on *Twice As Sweet* (1980). Janice-Marie co-wrote several tracks with Duke, including "Say That You’ll Stay" and "Don’t You Lead On Me," while her song "Rescue Me" hit the Top 20 on the R&B charts. However, her rendition of Kyu Sakamoto's "Sukiyaki" became the album’s centerpiece. Janice-Marie wrote the English lyrics for the song, which were later translated into Spanish and other languages. "Sukiyaki" topped the R&B and Adult Contemporary charts and gave A Taste Of Honey another Top 5 pop hit and a gold-certified single.

To this day, Janice-Marie incorporates a traditional, stunning Japanese Fan Dance into her live performances.

*Ladies of the Eighties* (1982) continued to keep A Taste Of Honey on the airwaves. Janice-Marie delivered an inspired cover of Smokey Robinson's classic "I’ll Try Something New," which made the R&B Top 10. Working with Earth, Wind & Fire’s producer Al McKay, Janice-Marie's "We’ve Got the Groove" hit the R&B charts, and former Stevie Wonder background singer Michael Wycoff joined her for "Diamond Real" that same year, released by RCA Records.

In the following decades, Janice-Marie Johnson’s music has appeared in everything from Hollywood films to video games and samples by hip-hop artists. Her hits have featured in films such as *All Good Things* (2010), *Roll Bounce* (2005), *Screwed* (2000), *Mystery Men* (1999), *Stepmom* (1998), *54* (1998), and *Contact* (1997), as well as TV shows like *The Oprah Winfrey Show*, *The Late Show with David Letterman*, *American Idol*, *King Of Queens*, *All My Children*, *The Martin Short Show*, and *Touched By An Angel*.

With sold-out performances around the world, Janice-Marie Johnson continues to celebrate the past, present, and future of A Taste Of Honey.

Currently, she is preparing new original songs that will enchant both longtime fans and new listeners of A Taste Of Honey. Whether in the studio or commanding the stage in front of thousands, Janice-Marie Johnson’s grooves are sweeter than ever.

ROD HANNA

ROD HANNA was born in Ribeirão Preto and has since transcended borders. Celebrating 20 years on the road, with six CDs, two DVDs, music videos, and appearances in national media, ROD HANNA continues to shine.

In 1994, ROD HANNA emerged in Ribeirão Preto during the transition from vinyl to CD. Their first CD, *ROD HANNA*, produced by Kiko Zambianchi, featured nine original tracks and one cover, Carole King's "You’ve Got a Friend," which opened doors to *Xuxa Hits*, a major platform for dance music artists at the time.

In 1996, they released their second CD with the label Velas. In *Vinil*, they fully embraced their 70s influences, and their first music video, directed by Geraldo Santos, received heavy airplay on MTV.

In 1999, they released the CD and video for *Disco*, gaining exposure on all networks, including a 5-minute feature with Zeca Camargo on *Fantástico*. Since then, the disco revival fever has kept the band's schedule packed.

Following that, they recorded their first live CD, *Disco Festa 1*, followed by the retro-futuristic CD *2070* and *Disco Festa 2*, which featured collaborations with DJ Memê on two retro-tinged tracks, including "Heaven Knows," which appeared on the CD and on the *Amaury Jr.* show.

In 2005, they released their first DVD, *ROD HANNA*, featuring appearances by Frenéticas and Kiko Zambianchi. The previously unreleased song "Pra Você Voltar" was a highlight on MTV. The project also included "Seguir Só," produced by Memê and written by Rodrigo.

In 2009, ROD HANNA released their second DVD while touring Brazil with their show directed by Ricardo Fabio, a musician and show director in the United States. In the same year, they also presented *MAMMA MIA – O SHOW* with the English group ABBA Magic, filling venues like Teatro Bradesco, Bourbon Country, Canecão, Via Funchal, HSBC Brasil, and Chevrolet Hall (BH), among others.

In 2011, they premiered the show *ROD HANNA ON BROADWAY*, featuring renditions of "Priscilla," "Mamma Mia," "Sister Act," "Saturday Night Fever," "Phantom of the Opera," "Flash Dance," "Cats," and more. They also paid tribute to New York, home of the discotheque with the legendary "Studio 54," and the Brooklyn Bridge, which served as the backdrop for John Travolta’s *Saturday Night Fever*. In their tribute to musicals, ROD HANNA recreated Times Square, complete with LED panels and NYC icons like the yellow taxi, the Statue of Liberty, the subway, Playbill, and the Big Apple. The impression is that ROD HANNA is performing right in the middle of Times Square, with characters coming out of the theaters to sing and dance with them.
