EVANESCENCE

EVANESCENCE RETURNS TO BRAZIL FOR THREE SHOWS

After a 4-year hiatus, Evanescence returns to Brazil for three shows, celebrating a new phase in their highly successful career.

Formed in 1995 in Little Rock, Arkansas, by Amy Lee and Ben Moody, then 13 and 14 years old, Evanescence has always been distinguished by its unique sound.

As Amy Lee describes it, “Evanescence means dissipation or disappearance like vapor. It’s a word most people have never heard because we came out of nowhere, and we want that element of mystery in our music. I also think it’s a beautiful word, just like our music.”

In 1998, the band released their first EP with the help of friends and future members, drummer Rocky Gray and bassist Will Boyd. In 1999, their first album, Origin, was released, but it wasn’t until 2003, with the album Fallen, that the band gained international recognition, selling over 15 million copies and winning numerous awards, including 2 Grammy Awards.

This success allowed the group to tour worldwide and release the DVD Anywhere But Home, despite the impact of Ben Moody's departure.

With the release of the album The Open Door in 2006, Evanescence expanded their reach, coming to Brazil for the first time in 2007.

Between 2008 and 2011, the band played many shows, took breaks for solo projects, experienced lineup changes, and finally reunited in 2011. The lineup included Amy Lee (piano and vocals), Terry Balsamo and Troy McLawhorn (guitars), Tim McCord (bass), and Will Hunt (drums) to record the self-titled album Evanescence, produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Alice in Chains, Deftones), followed by a new tour in 2012.

Since then, the band has kept a low profile, opting for a few small performances.

It appears that this iconic band, with a rich history, is now in its best phase both emotionally and professionally, more excited than ever for a new journey starting in 2017, beginning with shows in South America, including Brazil.

In a recent interview, Amy Lee mentioned that she is preparing something new for Evanescence that might "take the band in a different direction."

One of the most exciting news is the addition of new member Jen Majura, a highly talented guitarist who is expected to contribute significantly to the band.

Fans will have to wait to see the other surprises during the three performances in Brazil: April 20th at Net Live in Brasília, April 22nd at Vivo Rio in Rio de Janeiro, and April 23rd at Espaço das Américas in São Paulo.
