ABOUT IL VOLO:
In May 2009, Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto, and Gianluca Ginoble appeared on the Italian talent show “Ti Lascio Una Canzone,” leaving viewers dazzled with their rendition of the Neapolitan standard "O Sole Mio." The name chosen for the trio, IL VOLO (The Flight), represents the feeling of the three young tenors, ready to spread their wings and fly.

Enchanting audiences wherever they went, in February 2010 they were invited by legendary producer Quincy Jones to represent Italy in the recording of the single "We Are The World: 25 for Haiti," alongside Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Bono Vox, Josh Groban, Lady Gaga, Carlos Santana, Usher, Natalie Cole, Will.i.am, among others. Upon returning to Italy, they were invited to perform at the 60th Sanremo Music Festival.

In May 2011, they released their first album, produced by Tony Renis and Humberto Gatica. “Il Volo,” recorded in Los Angeles, Rome, and the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London, features reimagined classics and new material, including Italian standards like “O Sole Mio” and “Il Mundo.” Released by Universal Music, the album achieved Platinum status in Italy within just three months and was one of the best-selling albums online.

They were the first Italian artists to sign with Geffen Records in the United States, where the album debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Top 200, exploding onto the American music scene after their performance on American Idol.

The CD opened doors for their tour of Europe and the United States, held from September 25 to November 29, 2011, with sold-out tickets. During the season, they recorded the special “Il Volo Takes Flight - Live From Detroit Opera House” for PBS, released on CD and DVD.

Their second studio album “We Are Love” was released at the end of 2012, while the magnificent trio was concluding their North American tour and starring as a special guest on Barbra Streisand's tour, an undeniable fan of their moving performances.

Recently, Il Volo won the "Big Artist" award at the prestigious Sanremo Music Festival in Italy, which led them to earn 3x Platinum status in Italy with their latest EP, in addition to contributing to sold-out shows during their summer tour.

At the end of 2015, Public Broadcasting Television (PBS) aired the special, Il Volo: LIVE IN POMPEII, also released in Brazil on DVD, featuring exclusive footage from their recent concert at the legendary ruins of Pompeii. This performance marked the first time since 1971 that an artist (the last being Pink Floyd) held a concert at this famous location, situated near Naples.
