In his more than 30 years of career, Nando Reis has always been a band artist, both as the bassist and vocalist of Titãs and in his solo career, where he skillfully integrated with supporting musicians (like Os Infernais, for example). Now, however, it's time for the artist to truly perform alone, in the best guitar and voice format, and he will be seen in a show in the city of Pelotas (03/18).
Nando Reis - No Recreio Voz e Violão, which marks the release of his CD of the same name, recorded live in São Paulo last year and produced by the artist himself and mixed by Jack Endino (Seattle, USA), gives the audience the opportunity to see the renowned composer in an intimate and unique performance. Stripped of the sonic mass of Os Infernais, the songs here are presented in their most elemental form: lyrics, melody, and harmony, just as they came into the world.
The chosen repertoire is filled with established hits, including "All Star," "Diariamente," and "Relicário." While these songs are well-known to the public, hearing them in this intimate setting is undoubtedly a novelty.
But Nando is not just a great composer. The way he plays his steel-string guitar is, in a way, a synthesis between the rhythmic sophistication of Gilberto Gil and the unusual chords of Neil Young, two of his masters whose influences are clearly heard in Nando Reis - No Recreio Voz e Violão.
