OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN IN BRAZIL

One of the most successful singers in pop music history, with over 100 million records sold, Olivia Newton-John will come to Brazil with the Summer Nights tour, celebrating her 50 years in the industry with all her greatest hits.

For decades, Brazilian fans have dreamed of seeing Olivia Newton-John, one of the biggest stars in pop music history, perform live. That dream is now set to come true. The British star will be in Brazil in March 2016, with shows scheduled in Rio de Janeiro (March 1, at Theatro Municipal) and São Paulo (March 3, at Espaço das Américas).

Olivia couldn't have chosen a better time to visit. Her Summer Nights tour, which drew thousands of fans to Las Vegas and resulted in a double live album, is a fabulous dive into her greatest hits. The setlist features songs from all phases of her career, such as “I Honestly Love You,” “Summer Nights,” “You’re The One That I Want,” “Physical,” “Xanadu,” and many more, along with tracks from her new work “Grace & Gratitude.”

The numbers surrounding this incredible and beautiful singer's career are astounding: over 100 million records sold, four Grammy Awards (the Oscars of music), numerous Country Music, American Music, and People’s Choice Awards, dozens of hits on charts worldwide, and performances in major films...

Born in England on September 26, 1948, Olivia Newton-John moved to Australia with her parents at the age of five, where she began her musical career. She returned to her home country in the late 1960s.

In 1971, she first entered the British charts with her rendition of “If Not For You,” by Bob Dylan. In 1974, the song and album titled “Let Me Be There” propelled her to the top of the American country charts, a remarkable feat for an artist from another country.

This was just the beginning of a brilliant phase for her, as she became a major star in the American country music scene, winning important awards and charting hits like “I Honestly Love You,” “Please Mr. Please,” and “Sam,” among many others.

In 1978, she starred in the film adaptation of the musical “Grease,” alongside John Travolta. The movie became one of the highest-grossing musicals in history, and Olivia scored hit songs on the soundtrack, including “You’re The One That I Want,” “Summer Nights,” and “Hopelessly Devoted To You,” with the first two being duets with Travolta.

This success marked a shift for Olivia Newton-John toward rock and pop, generating hits like “A Little More Love” and “Deeper Than The Night,” tracks from the album “Totally Hot” (1979).

In 1980, she starred in another film, “Xanadu,” where she had the honor of performing alongside actor and dancer Gene Kelly. They danced together and recorded the duet “Whenever You’re Away From Me.” The film's soundtrack included the upbeat “Xanadu,” a duet with the Electric Light Orchestra, the rock hit “Magic,” and the ballad “Suddenly,” a collaboration with her long-time friend and singer Cliff Richard, who helped her early in her career.

In 1981, she broke records with the song “Physical,” which sold millions of copies worldwide and topped the American charts for ten weeks, becoming the biggest hit in the U.S. that year, and turning into an anthem for workout videos.

Alongside her music career, Olivia Newton-John has always been an advocate for humanitarian causes, particularly breast cancer prevention, a disease she overcame in the 1990s. She even established a foundation to fund research for a cure, the Olivia Newton-John Cancer And Wellness Centre, based in Melbourne, Australia.

Her music career has remained active throughout the years, with successful albums like “Back With a Heart” (1998).

In August 2014, she began a successful residency at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, resulting in the live double album “Summer Nights- Live In Las Vegas” (2015), featuring reinterpretations of her greatest hits and the new song “Grace & Gratitude.” It is this show that Brazilian audiences will be able to enjoy in March 2016.
