One Night in Buenos Aires

FEATURING AMELITA BALTAR, CARLOS BUONO, ALBERTO BIANCO, AND THE ORCHESTRA OF VIRTUOSO MAESTROS, ALONG WITH WORLD CHAMPION TANGO DANCERS

Brazil will host the new edition of the show Una Noche en Buenos Aires in MAY 2017, a performance that has successfully toured the world for 40 years.

With musical direction by the acclaimed Maestro Carlos Buono and the moving voice of singer Amelita Baltar (former wife of Astor Piazzolla), this new edition will present a TRIBUTE TO ASTOR PIAZZOLLA in a show that brings together the best of Argentine Tango, with general direction and production by Manoel Poladian.

In São Paulo, the performance is scheduled for 10:00 PM on May 13 at Tom Brasil, and some of Piazzolla's greatest hits will be included in the repertoire, such as Libertango, Adios Nonino, and Balada por un Loco.

AMELITA BALTAR

Amelita Baltar is considered today the greatest Tango singer in the world. She gained fame in the 1970s when she began performing and recording songs by Astor Piazzolla, with whom she later married, and Horacio Ferrer.

Before her Tango career, Amelita was a standout in Argentine folk music, a genre with which she won the Festival Internacional del Disco in Mar del Plata, leading to an invitation from Piazzolla to star in the famous opera María de Buenos Aires, which was a great success during its European tour.

Amelita stands out not only for her voice but also for her dramatic stage presence. One of her most famous recordings is the song Balada para un Loco, from Horacio Ferrer's "Three Ballads" series.

CARLOS BUONO

Musical director, bandoneonist, composer, and arranger, Maestro Carlos Buono (winner of the Sadaic Award / Golden Bandoneon) is today considered the most authentic and magnificent interpreter of Astor Piazzolla’s works. He has performed as a soloist with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Symphony Orchestras of the Milan, Amsterdam, and Hamburg Opera Houses. Called “the king of Tango” in Europe, he is currently touring with Dutch star André Rieu.

Carlos Buono was born in Buenos Aires in 1942. He performed with great artists before forming his own group and playing in major capitals around the world. Winner of the Homero Manzi Award at the Baradero Festival (Argentina), he was part of the orchestral groups of Alfredo Gobbi, Osvaldo Tarantino, Mariano Mores, Horacio Salgán, José Colangelo, Osvaldo Berlinghieri, and Atilio Stampone. He was the musical director of the Michelangelo nightclub and of artists Raul Lavié and Libertad Lamarque, and was a soloist for the Julio Bocca show in New York. He accompanied Adriana Varela, Eladia Blazquez, Maria Graña, and Lito Nebbia.

Throughout his career, he has toured Japan, the United States, Russia, Europe, Central and South America, and Canada. He was the musical director of Piazzolla Tango in Buenos Aires and was honored with a medal and diploma from Sadaic (Argentine Society of Authors and Composers).

He has also participated in numerous albums and released three solo albums: “Renaciendo” (2004), “Alma De Tango” (2005), and “Otra Miranda” (2008). His style blends the dramatic flair characteristic of Tango with an elegant vocal technique.
