PIAF show arrives in Brazil in 2025, with tribute to Charles Aznavour's 100th birthday
Anne Carrere will arrive in Brazil in May 2025. Considered the greatest interpreter of Édith Piaf, the French singer returns to Latin America with a new show that combines Piaf's eternal successes with a “Tribute to the 100 years of Charles Aznavour”, the greatest French singer, Piaf's great friend and partner.
Anne Carrere will perform in Brazil, on May 29th at the Auditorium Araújo Vianna in Porto Alegre (RS), May 30th at the Teatro Positivo in Curitiba, May 31st at the Palácio das Artes in Belo Horizonte (MG); June 1st, in São Paulo (SP), at Espaço Unimed; June 7th and 8th, at Theatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro.
On stage, Carrere will be accompanied by four conductors, in a show that goes through Piaf's life story from the 1930s when, with no money, she sang in the streets and bars of Paris to survive, the time of “La Mome” (La Vie En Rose), until 1961, when she performed on the Olympia stage, in one of the most memorable concerts of her life. A dive into the life of Édith Piaf, bringing the audience a breathtaking experience for 90 minutes. The arrangements are in charge of Guy Giuliano.
The show will have a great tribute to Charles Aznavour. Carrere will perform hits by the singer of the century, such as La Bohème, Jezebel – in a duo with Piaf -, Je m’voyais déjà / Formidable and Les Deux Guitares. Simply exciting.

Born in Toulon, southern France, on August 15, 1985, Anne Carrere started early in the arts, singing at just 3 years old, with her family. In her autobiography, she wrote: “In love with music, I spent my childhood learning classical dance, jazz, piano, solfeggio, flute, theater, musical comedy and SINGING” - just like that, in capital letters.
This was what took her to various stages and television programs, learning vocal jazz with Michel Pettruciani, being presented by Michel Fugain on his program “Attention Mesdames et Messieurs” and meeting the singer Germaine Ricord, who in the 1960s had performed the first parts of Piaf's concerts and ended up being decisive in her later artistic path.
But, Piaf arrived even earlier. “She came into my life when I was 3 years old,” says Carrere. “I had no idea that one day I would play Piaf, nor that I would play this role in such an important musical. My grandmother listened to Piaf at home and it was with her that I discovered her greatest songs, although I still didn’t understand them at that age.”
“What gives me the most pleasure in this show is being able to perform Édith Piaf's songs, as well as the opportunity to sing the way I want. Because I'm not Édith Piaf, and even cannot I sing like her. I sing with my soul, with my body, with what gives me my voice, my emotions and feelings. That's why I like the show. It’s about Piaf, but it’s not an imitation, which would take the risk of looking like a caricature.”
Piaf's importance, according to Anne Carrere, will not be lost over time. “She was a great success in her time, because she truly represented a life story, with several misfortunes, and many people knew her not only for her music, but also for these episodes she lived. But, Piaf crossed the century and her songs became timeless, the lyrics are stories that tell us the things in life, the emotions, and the melodies are now part of people's lives. When we talk about Piaf, above all we talk about her life, and naturally about her career”.
In 2014, Carrere was selected in the test to be cast in musicals, starting with the one celebrating Édith Pìaf's 100th birthday, with performances scheduled around the world – in countries such as Brazil, Greece, Poland and the United States.
Since then, Anne Carrere has been the most listened to interpreter of Édith Piaf in recent times.
